I have gotten up at 7:15 the last two mornings. Those of you who know my normal schedule, know that this is unusual. Normally, I get up at about ten. So I have been waking up early because yesterday we got a new kitchen floor and the guy who came to install was scheduled to start work at 8:00. I wanted to make sure that I was up and at 'em before he came so that I didn't have to walk out of the bedroom into the midst of the craziness of a ripped-apart floor and face first-thing a guy I don't know.

The new floor is installed and it is a great improvement on the old cracked and abused one that I've been walking on in sock-feet for the last eight years. The band saw it last night at practice. Lesa and I surveyed the kitchen and said, now all we need is a working oven and stove that doesn't seem like it is going to explode every time we use it.

When we came downstairs after practice last night, I noticed an oven door leaning on a wall in the kitchen. What the? I looked out on the porch and sure enough there was a new stove out there ready to be installed this morning. So, once again I got out of bed early and the repair-man showed up right on schedule. When I got out of the shower he was on the porch fixing our lamp. When I left for work at 10:30, the new stove/oven had been installed and was working, he had to rewire some stuff to get power to it and in doing so we now have two new outlets - one in the kitchen and one in a bedroom. It's great. Out of nowhere, we suddenly have all these improvements.

The oven actually has a light in it, and a timer, and all the burners work, and it is level - that means that the eggs won't all slide to one edge of the frying pan!

But, what did I do while the kitchen was being remodeled? I spent my morning fixing up some recordings. I leveled out the vocal volume in Good Night and fixed up the Arp part of Talking Backwards. Ken and I listened to some mixes last night before practice and he pointed out an idea or two. The Arp fix was one of them. I also made a few slight edits to Pick A Gripe, repairing the tempo of the introduction (also pointed out by Ken) and neatening up some of the guitar takes.

Tiny, have you taken a shot at a running order yet?
