Good practice last night.
Pre-practice, Tony came by early and we listened to and discussed a few mixes. Then Max came in and we talked a bit about album covers. Then Brian showed up and we all beat him silly with yard sticks.
During practice, we refreshed ourselves on the newer selections in our repertoire and then we learned two new SFTD songs: Super Hero and Journal of Lies. As I was playing the new songs for the band (they are both fast and kind of silly) I kept messing up and laughing and they sounded just ridiculous to me. Also, things kept falling down while I played. First a few pieces of paper fell off the amp and then some other louder things and eventually the new tambourine fell off of the keyboard and landed in that swirling on it's rim way that quarters sometimes do. It was really loud and lasted far longer than seemed possible.
So, yeah, the songs sounded ridiculous when I played them alone. I knew how they were going to sound with a band, but I couldn't see how the band sitting there listening could possibly be making any sense of them. Then they started playing along and it sounded perfect, of course.
