Kazaa. That's my way of saying hello ever since Kazaa was responsible for secretly installing spyware into my brain. Now, each time I listen to an MP3, my synapsis are triggered to project tiny advertisements into my vision beans.
What am I talking about? Yoiks, I was having some trouble yesterday with the old computer while trying to record Fawns stuff and finally decided to try and see what kind of sneaky programs were living in my computer. I downloaded a great thing called Ad-Aware and it found 99 invasions. Many of these were small programs that run in the background either sending off information about what my computer is up to for advertisers or downloading advertisemnets in the form of pop-up messages even when I wasn't on-line.
I removed the nasty things and uninstalled and removed Kazaa and it all seems to be running a little quicker now. Which is good since Dave Trenholm is coming over tonight to play some flute and sax parts for Brian's album.
It was a very music oriented weekend for me, too. After a great show on Friday night with the Fawns, we spent Saturday recording basic tracks for 9 songs, Saturday night recording acoustic tracks before going to see Spanish for Hitchhiking (a wonderful show as always, they are my favorite local band.) Sunday we recorded Rob's vocals and the rest of Max's bass parts as well as all of Lesa's electric guitar parts and some of mine. Then Sunday night was an overwhelming assault on the ears and senses at the Joe Strummer tribute show where I was mixing sound. Exhausting. Monday, after dealing with the aforementioned computer hassles, I recorded almost all of the rest of my lead guitar parts, during the biggest snowstorm ever to happen anywere in the history of time. This morning, after helping Lesa get her car out of a snow bank, since I was up early, I spent a few hours going through some of those recordings doing some drum mixes and what have you, before work.
One look at the online calendar makes it pretty clear that the only time we might possibly be able to practice is before the show on Friday. I kind of think that it won't be necessary, but it would be fun, if you guys want to.
Our Iron Horse show with Bettie Seveert is NOT happening, they have an opener. I have been having some contact with Walter at Flywheel about doing a show there and hopefully I will book something around that same time.
