Well, I'm sorry I've been so silent.
Here's a run down of what I've been up to:
1)Did not play the Stuntmen show at the Mole's Eye. Snow. We all know.
2)Paid a lot to have my car fixed. A LOT, Then had to take it back in because there was a new noise. Their fault. So I kept saying to Andrea (until she wanted to kick me), a la a Sopranos character, "First they charge you an arm and a leg, then they f__ you up the a__!"
3) Took a blizzard walk to get Cha Cha Cha and 2 DVDs. Dr, Strangelove (brink of nuclear war theme) and Dr. Zhivago (snow theme). Didn't get to watch the latter, because the next night we decided to go see "Far From Heaven". RECOMMEDNED!!
4) Went to the Holyoke Mall and spent 2/3 of my Gap Gift Cards. Got a lot of new clothes. Sales galore!!
5) Went to the Eastside Grille with Andrea and her sister. Scallops, squash, yum etc.
6) Played a Harry's Sunday night gig with Scott Hall. Thane opened and wowed the snow-brave crowd by playing KEYBOARD on two songs. And his 12 Steps opera is going to be the next Kayrol Island. And then Pinch when I finally write that. Anyway, the Scot Hall show. Lots of fun. Ning did sound. My fave part was when Alex Johnson came up (one of the area's best guitar players) and we did the Eagles "I Can't Tell You Why".
7) Before that show, I listened with barely concealed insane jealousy as Ning told me the details of his upcoming trip to Florida.
8) Yesterday, I finally had no symptoms of a subtle but annoying cold. Drink Allen's Ginger Brandy. It's the tastiest medicine around.
I have some Newbury Comics credit with which I think I wanna get the new Deluxe Monterey Pop DVD with loads of extra stuff. After all, Monterey Pop is so responsible for my music and fashion sense.
I've been working a lot as well. And because of budget constraints, the more work there is, the less we can compensate, making matters worse. We need new vans, a new building, etc. The loads are getting heavier, with the new Web Interlibrary Loan program. 2 vans broke down last week and we are driving rental vans that are hardly adequate.
BUT, the Hampshire Gazette is doing a 2 part series on WMRLS and a guy took a picture of me backing in to the building in the van at the end of the day (probably looking angry and tired). Perhaps this will enlighten the public as to our immense importance. It's not all listening to mockingbirds in Agawam then writing a song about it and recording it at Henning's house 6 months later.
Last night I got a tape of the Kayrol Island Opera music. I'm excited. You should all go. Ken and I will be on stage and may even have a line or two to sing (most likely Ken will. I told him I sing like Ringo, so I may not).
IDEA for new website: Ian the Llama gives bubble messages when you put your mouse near him. Or atleast he winks.
