I'm preparing for my vacation that starts tomorrow. I printed up a bunch of maps and directions. I'm thinking about what to pack. I'll be away from work and town for 10 days. I'll be out of the snow and in the sun. I'll be miniature golfing at a Pirates Cove, watching my ball glide across the green under the spot lights next to a fake warm waterfall. I'll be eating ice cream and pointing at pelicans. I'll be taking pictures of stores shaped like oranges and lying on my back looking up the trunk of a palm tree. I'll be riding a bike with ocean on one side of me and jungle on the other. I'll be sitting in a crowd of thousands of happy kids. I'll be opening a hotel door and running inside the room to try out all the light switches.
In the meantime, the rockumentary will be filling up with tales from Brian and Ken about their adventures in stage-art. Tony will be writing about the Pelicans set at Harry's. I won't be able to see the Pelicans Saturday but I will be seeing pelicans Saturday. So there.
When I get back we're diving right in. The studios will be moving to the upstairs of the building. The recording will become intensive. There is no more time to waste. The Chain CD will be mastered that week. In fact, I'm calling Dan right now to make an appointment and that'll be that....well, ok I left a message on his machine. That's a start.
I worked more on the website last night. So far, the main page, the introduction, the band, and the press pages are pretty much done. It won' t be much longer.
I'll try to find a computer at some point during the week to check up on things, both SFTD and Rub Wrongways related. I expect to see lots of activity on the "Your Very Own Rockumentary Fancy Talk Machine". I expect to be confirming a number of orders for the new Pelicans album and for SFTD T-Shirts.
Tuesday night's open mic will be hosted by Patty Magill and the Sunday's will be run by Chris. No practice on Monday the 20th. No Fawns pratice on Wednesday the 22nd.
