Hello, and happy end-of-December. My Christmas, which will be in effect for another few days (more family this weekend), was nice. My family celebrated with latkes on Sunday, which is my favorite thing to eat during these holidays. Lots of pepper and apple sauce. Then my parents were off to Florida, where my Dad was convinced he could escape the Christmas chaos, and my sister headed off to sunny California. Anya and I hopped into the the trusty subaru sleigh and headed over the hills and far awaaaay to sunny West Hartford. There we had a nifty (actual) Christmas and I ate too many cookies and ham and chocolates. I will now be the fat boy in the band.
My favorite gifts were a guide book of Montreal (and a promissory note to visit there soon) and a tagine (Moroccan cooking dish). Also very much appreciated were a book on Maurice Sendack and the soundtrack to Amelie. The drive home took us almost 2.5 hours, on a ride that is usually 45 minutes. After bringing up the loot, A and I headed out to explore the great white wonderland. Perhaps you saw *us* as the bundled-up duo, Henning (duh duh duhhhhh... cue mystery music). We ventured over to Smith to see if the twig castle was still up, which it was, and had fun playing King of Northampton and pushing each other over in the snow.
