Nerdy baseball/drug fact I just learned.
Do you know how Dock Ellis, a Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher, pitched a no-hitter while on LSD? (true story, well documented, look it up).
He made up the now popular term "no-no" for a no-hitter. In the 7th inning, he had no idea how long the game had been going on, looked at the score board and saw he hadn't allowed a hit. He then exclaimed to one of his teammates, "Hey! I'm pitching a no-no!!". Which earned raised eyebrows, but immediately a new slang term was born.
The details of this game are great. He hit like 4 batters. He saw the ball as a comet. He leaped out of the way of balls that were coming at him, which really were softly tapped and never even reached him.
He'd planned to spend the day tripping with his girlfriend, thinking the team had a day off.
Anyway. Happy 4th of thing.
