Brian: Woah! Ken! Sounds better than Star Wars.
I'm wondering if I or someone can give a dramatic reading of "Boris the Spider" before the Steamtrain show today.
I missed the Rush boat for the most part. I secretly loved the videos, but as a beginning drummer, I refused to believe that it all had to be that complex. I can imagine Ken going from Rush to the Monkees' "Headquarters" (with Dolenz' drumming for beginners) in a youthful afternoon. Twisted. It's why Ken is who he is today. That's a compliment.
MY DREAM: I awoke at 11 am this morning from this dream:
In the dream I was having a dream that I was watching a video for a song called "Aging Punk Rockers" by a mystery artist. In the video there was a bookshelf with old, spiderwebbed books, labeled "Siouxie and the Banchees", "Buzzcocks" etc and I remember thinking "it better not say XTC!!". So I woke up from the inner dream to go into the living room to figure out the song. When I went into the living room, someone had hung my cardboardBeatles figurines by their necks from the ceiling. Also, they pasted Eugine Farrarri's (Unband drummer, old friend) face on everything in the house. Also, lots of furniture was pushed up against the front door.
It woke me for real with a start. Still, I tried to remember the song, but can only come up with a small portion of it, and it's pretty gay. "I've had enough of aging punk rockers..." is the only lyrics I remember. I have a much better new punk song I wanna record called "Mediocre Meteor"
WHY? Well, I went to see "Broker" last night at the Harry's. Guys in their mid 30's playing Circle Jerks speed. Then I came home, and Kevin O'Rouke and I watched "Westway to the World", a new Clash documentary wit lots of recent interviews.
The truth is, I love aging punk rockers. How dare I take such a holier than thou stance, now that all the bands I'm in are pretty mellow. Wait 'till they hear "Omnivore", right? RRRRROHHHHHHHCKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!
"You think they call us plastic now, wait 'till I get through telling them how we do it." (Mike Nesmith in "Head")
I'm reading James Tate's new book of short stories, out on matthew Zapruder's publishing house, "Verse Press". The stories are great. I love short stories. No attention span, you know.
